When and Where to Apply

NEET UG 2025 state counselling will begin on July 29. Each state will conduct its counselling independently on respective official portals. Candidates are advised to regularly visit their state’s Directorate of Medical Education websites to get the latest updates and to apply online as soon as the window opens.

Who is Eligible

Only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2025 and fulfill the state domicile and category criteria will be eligible for the state counselling process. Eligibility also depends on factors like marks secured, category rank, and reservation policy of the respective state.

2 Fill out academic and category information carefully

3 Upload required documents such as mark sheet, NEET UG scorecard, photo ID, and category certificate if applicable

4 Choose preferred colleges and courses as per your rank and availability

5 Submit and lock your choices before the deadline

Once the registration is complete, a merit list will be released by the state authority followed by document verification and the first round of seat allotment.

Important Documents Required

During counselling and verification, candidates must keep the following documents ready

  • NEET UG 2025 admit card and rank letter

  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and passing certificates

  • Domicile certificate

  • Caste or category certificate if applicable

Ensure all documents are in the prescribed format and attested copies are also available.

Seat Allotment Process

After completing the choice filling, the counselling authority will conduct seat allotment based on NEET rank, preferences, category, and availability. The result of the seat allotment will be declared online. Candidates who are allotted seats will be required to download their allotment letter and report to the allotted institute for further admission formalities.

Reporting and Admission

Once a seat is allotted, students must visit the assigned college within the given time frame with original documents and the allotment letter. They will also need to pay the admission fee as per the institution’s norms. Failing to report on time can result in cancellation of the seat.

Choice Filling Tips

While selecting colleges and courses, candidates should keep their NEET score, previous year cut-offs, and availability in mind. It is always advisable to fill in a maximum number of choices in preference order to improve chances of getting a desired seat.

Future Rounds of Counselling

If a candidate does not get a seat in the first round or wishes to upgrade, they can participate in subsequent rounds. Usually, three to four rounds of counselling are conducted including a mop-up round for vacant seats. Candidates must stay alert to deadlines for each round.
